EIA announced that it had received a record number of nominations for its Driver of the Year (DOTY) awards. This program recognizes and honors waste industry drivers committed to safety and high quality service. Nominations were due in December 2012. For the 2013 DOTY awards, EIA received 898 applications. This is nearly a 40 percent increase from the number of applicants that EIA had for the DOTY program in 2012. EIA expanded the number of categories this year from 7 to 9 to include separate categories for regional companies in response to member input. In 2013, EIA saw the number of applications increase for both large and small commercial companies, as well as public-sector organizations. Read more here.

It is with great pleasure I submit my recommendation for Anthony Jake of Las Vegas NV as EIA Driver of the year. He has been an incredibly kind and efficient sanitation worker for many years. I have on many occasions sent my regards on his behalf. His awareness of our neighborhood has always been greatly appreciated. He became aware of one of our elderly neighbors being unable to get to the street due to her constant need for oxygen, so he would make it a point to pull the empty receptacle to her garage door where he knew she could retain her independence and bring it in. It meant a lot to her as well as me.
For these reasons and more I urge you to consider Anthony Jake as EIA Driver of the Year.
Sincerely,
