While you're correct that municipal solid waste employees generally don't qualify for NSWMA or WASTEC membership, they can join as individual EIA members (more info: http://environmentalistseveryday.org/membership-solid-waste-industry-associations/eia-member-benefits/index.php). And EIA members are eligible to apply for an EIA Women's Council scholarship. If you're interested in continuing your studies in this area and plan to stick with the industry (even as a municipal employee), EIA membership is something that you might want to consider. Cheers!

I would like to apply for the scholarship, but, I just found out that it is for members only and their dependents.
It would have been great if I could have applied. I have worked in municipal government for the city of Chicago for the past 21 years and have recently graduated from Columbia Southern University with a BS in environnmental management with a 3.30 gpa. I guess its back to the drawing board for me.

Respectfully,
Joyce Banks
